So you want to go fast? Slow down! You'll need a couple things...
- US Speedskating membership. ("One-Day One-Dollar" [pdf] memberships are also available for new skaters!)
- East Penn membership [pdf].
Check the practice schedule and rink locations for a day that you would like to come.
Contact an East Penn officer to reserve a pair of speed skates, and to arrange to come at least half an hour early. Skates are available for a rental fee of $5/session. They are also available for lease on a limited basis, for a fee of $75 the first year and $100 thereafter, plus a $100 deposit.
Come prepared with all skin covered from the neck down, a helmet (bike helmet okay), and soft knee pads (pads used for volleyball are suggested).
Our club practices accommodate beginners, but you can also start with Learn to Speed Skate classes if you prefer.
Pricing
Pricing plans include 1 hour of ice time and 1 hour of dryland training per session. Skate rentals are calculated separately (see above).
